Buddha Purnima celebrated in Chandigarh

The festival of Buddha Purnima was celebrated in Chandigarh with zest and zeal. The beautiful city of Chandigarh might not have many Buddha religion followers, but there’s a big statue of Lord Buddha at the Peace Park. This has been built towards the regulator end of the lake.

On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, the Buddha statue at the lake was illuminated with the help of burning steel wool placed at its back. It was a perfect view for those who came here to worship Lord Buddha and celebrate Buddha Purnima. Apart from the Buddhists in Chandigarh, late evening walkers, joggers and visitors also witnessed this eye-catching view.

Buddhists residing in Chandigarh also paid obeisance at the Buddha Temple which is situated at village Khuda Ali Sher. Devotees lighted candles and sang rhymes and greeted each other to mark the festival of Budh Purnima on the 21st of May, 2016. This was the 2560th Buddha Jayanti.
