Chandigarh – Dubai Direct Flight Becomes Operational & It’s a Daily Flight

After Sharjah, now there’s a direct flight from Chandigarh to Dubai by Indigo Airlines.

The first Indigo flight took off to Dubai from Chandigarh International Airport on 25 September, 2016. Airbus A-320 departed to Dubai with 127 passengers on-board on its scheduled time of 4:05 PM. Although it has been the second International flight to take off from Chandigarh International Airport, but this is one such international flight that has a daily schedule.

A cake cutting ceremony was organised by IndiGo Airlines before the taking off of first international flight to Dubai from Chandigarh. The vice-president cut the cake as a welcome gesture. All the passengers of Indigo’s Chandigarh Dubai flight were greeted with rose buds at the Chandigarh International Airport. The direct and non-stop fight took 3:30 hours to reach Dubai from Chandigarh.

With the first flight to Dubai, people of Chandigarh got a chance to fly to Dubai with their own reason to celebrate. Some went their for business purpose and some as a tourist.

After the inauguration of Chandigarh International Airport, Air India took the initiative and the first flight took off on 15 September to Sharjah from Chandigarh. However, IndiGo Airlines was the first one to propose the first flight to Dubai from Chandigarh. The first flight to Sharjah also took Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, Sukhbir Singh Badal and his delegation.

With the opening of Chandigarh International Airport, people of Chandigarh are now directly connected to the world. As many people of Punjab stays or go abroad for work, this will become easy for them to land directly to Punjab. As many Airlines are taking interest to fly on international routes from Chandigarh, lets hope to see more international flights pretty soon.
