Air tickets for direct flights from Chandigarh to Srinagar are being sold at 70% less as compared to normal fare and still there are very few or no takers. We guess, most of you would like to travel from Chandigarh to Srinagar by air at this negligible cost and plan a trip to Jammu & Kashmir.
A direct flight from Chandigarh to Srinagar takes 1 Hour and 5 Minutes. This is more than the Chandigarh – Delhi flight. The normal fare between Chandigarh & Srinagar on any day varies between Rs. 7,000 to 9,000 or even more depending on the rush.
Reason for Such Low Air Fare between Chandigarh & Srinagar
The main reason which has brought down the airlines fare between Chandigarh & Srinagar is the current curfew situation in Jammu & Kashmir. People in the state do not even have access to mobile internet, news publications and other communication channels.
There 2 flights that offer a direct flight from Chandigarh to Srinagar:
- SpiceJet flight = Departs from Chandigarh at 12:35 PM and reaches Srinagar at 1:40 PM. They have suspended their flights till 31 August, 2016.
- IndiGo flight = Departs from Chandigarh at 1:25 PM and reaches Srinagar at 2:30 PM. A general search on any air ticket booking website will give you the Indigo air fare for a one side ticket at around Rs. 1640.
A couple of days ago, Indigo was offering the air ticket from Chandigarh to Srinagar at around Rs. 2400. The fares were expected to drop further and by today these have reached an all time low of Rs. 1640.
The same price is expected to continue for a few days or till the curfew situation in Srinagar becomes somewhat better. According to recent updates, the curfew in Srinagar has been lifted off from some parts as on 24th August, 2016. These prices can benefit you a lot if you plan to travel to Srinagar.
However, there are no reductions in the air ticket price from Chandigarh to Srinagar in Air India flight that is connected via a stop at New Delhi.
