Sector 17 Chandigarh, one of the most visited place in city now has a multi level parking that promises to end parking woes for visitors. There was a need for some massive parking space at Sector 17 and this newly constructed multi level parking seems be the answer to all parking problems in Sector 17. A site for the same was finalized and the project was under construction from 2013.
Multi Level Parking Project, Sector 17 Chandigarh
The sector 17 multi level parking has come up on the parking space which was commonly known as Gurudev Parking. It is on the other side which is towards Sector 16. To give you an idea, the multi level parking has come up on the Post Office, BSNL Office, Hotel Shivalik View side. here are few facts about the project.
Total Area = 4.8 Acres.
Project Cost = Rs. 47 Crore.
Parking Capacity = 931 vehicles.
Number of levels = 4.
Features of Sector 17 Multi Level Parking
– Automatic Ticket Counters at entry and exit.
These would be similar to those which are currently at Elante Mall, Chandigarh. A person will be able to fetch the parking ticket from console and move in. At the exit, you’ll have to put the ticket in the console machine to move out.
– Eight lifts within the parking area.
The parking is spread across 4 floors and there are 8 lifts for the commuters.
– Solar powered lights.
All lightening inside the parking area will be done with the help of solar powered lights. A big solar panel has been installed on the rooftop.
– Landscaping will be done to make the parking lots look beautiful.
Normally, parking lots especially the basement ones are not that appealing. But the multi level parking in Sector 17 Chandigarh will have special areas for landscaping. The area has been divided equally for parking and landscaping.
– Only for 4-wheelers.
The parking lots in Chandigarh are not specifically designed for 2-wheelers or 4-wheelers and mostly all parking spaces are made to accommodate both. However the multilevel parking lot of Sector 17 in Chandigarh has been designed only for 4-wheelers.
Chandigarh Administration has decided to open this sector 17 multi level parking for public on the 1st of April, 2016. It was also announced that the facility would be free to use for the initial 4 months and after that normal parking charges would be charged as per the rates across Chandigarh.
