Shimla to soon get a Ropeway connecting ISBT with Mall Road & Ridge

A ropeway in Shimla will soon be a reality as Himachal government has sanctioned Rs. 2200 Crore for its Shimla ropeway project.

As the new ISBT has been built at quite a distance from the main city, there was a need for better connectivity between the Mall road and ISBT. No doubt, local buses serve the purpose as of now but to boost tourism and to connect Mall Road with ISBT, government had planned a rope way or cable way. Moving forward with the planning, a final decision on the Shimla ropeway project has been taken and the project has already been allocated to a Ghaziabad based firm. here are the details of this esteemed project.

Shimla Ropeway project Details

Length of the ropeway: 2.5 Kms.

Type of ropeway: Aerial.

Construction company: Usha Breco Limited (UBL), Part of the Usha Martin Group (Ghaziabad).

Estimated Project cost: Rs. 2,000 Crore.

Expected completion time: By the end of year 2018.

This ropeway project in Shimla will not only help locals travel from ISBT to Mall Road but will help generate a revenue of Rs. 10 Crore for the Himachal government. The Shimla ropeway will be a major attraction for tourists from Chandigarh, New Delhi and other parts of India.
