With the commencing of Navratris, 10-day dandiya festivals have started at different places in Chandigarh. 10-day long Dandiya Utsav has started at Kalagram in Manimajra, Chandigarh whereas 10-day long Dandiya festival also kick-started at Chandigarh Haat, Exhibition Ground, Sector 34, Chandigarh.
10-day long dandiya festivals begin in Chandigarh
Two dandiya festivals kick-started in Chandigarh yesterday that are poised to enthral Chandigarh residents bedsides adding spice to the festive mode.
The 10-day Dandiya festivals are being organised at different locations in Chandigarh. While one dandiya festival is being organised in sector 34, the other one is organised at Kalagram, Manimajra Chandigarh. Dandiya festival is one of the most awaited cultural festivals in the region. What adds to the beauty of the festival is the crowd swinging and swirling on foot-tapping Gujrati folk songs as well as Bollywood songs in vibrant costumes.
Special troops performing at the dandiya festivals
Bhavnagar-based Dandiya dance troop will be performing at the dandiya festival in sector 34, Chandigarh whereas Ahmedabad-based professional dandiya group will perform at the Dandiya Utsav in Kalagram, Manimajra Chandigarh.
The Bhavnagar-based troop that will execute scintillating show at Chandigarh Haat, Sector 34, Chandigarh is affiliated to the West Zone Culture Centre, Udaipur while the Ahmedabad-based dandiya group that will perform at Kalagram, Manimajra Chandigarh will be performing under the aegis of North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala in collaboration with SBM Pictures Delhi.
Added features of the Dandiya Festival
Sumptuous street food, as well as traditional craft and food, are an added attraction at the gala event. Dandiya sticks are available at the event and a nominal fee of Rs 40 will be charged from each visitor to get mesmerised in the Dandiya Utsav and get indulged in the beats of the garbha and dandiya.
Dandiya competition at Kalagram, Manimajra, Chandigarh
Dandiya competition will be organised on a daily basis till 30 September from 7 pm till 10.30 pm at Kalagram, Manimajra, Chandigarh.
5 best dandiya dance group/ couples will be chosen by the judges every day. These couples/ groups will get attractive gift hampers as prizes. On the concluding day, 30 September, the final round of the Dandiya Utsav will be organised wherein 45 dance groups will perform simultaneously. The best performer will be selected out of this 45 performing groups and a bumper prize will be awarded to the best one.
