The baby is underweight and weighs less than 2.5 kilograms. More about Chandigarh 10-year old rape case

This is one case of Chandigarh that took the entire nation by storm where a minor of 10-years was allegedly raped by her maternal uncle for many months due to which she got pregnant. But none of her family members got to know about the incident. It’s only when the girl complained of stomach ache, she was taken to the hospital where doctors concluded that she was 30 weeks pregnant. The family wanted an abortion but by that time it was impossible keeping in mind the safety and health of the rape victim. The case then moved to the Supreme court of India where the apex court denied abortion.

The new born will now be handed to the Child Welfare Committee who will be her custodian until they find her an appropriate foster family. The baby will be kept at the state adoption agency, Aashiana for two months and then the agency will begin the adoption process for her.

The Chandigarh’s 10-year old rape victim belongs to Nepalese family and her maternal uncle had allegedly raped her multiple times. The accused has been arrested by the Chandigarh police on the complaint of the victim’s parents.
