Reeling under the continously increasing debt that has reached around Rs. 1.25 lakh crore, Punjab government has not been able to ensure that the teachers are paid in time. Ultimately, delay in payment of salaries to teachers is resulting in hitting the backbone of the education sytem. What to talk of preparing skilled manpower from our schools, teachers have not been able to ensure that students get knowledge of the mandatory subjects as desired.

It has been widely report by the media from various parts of Punjab time and again that teachers have been compelled by the government to resort to taking loans from banks or private lenders for their sustainance.

The delay in release of pay to teachers also results in teachers taking less interest in teaching, remaining more on leave and indulging in private tuitions to their students.
