19 Year Old Girl Commits Suicide in Sector 22 Chandigarh

It is sad to hear about cases like suicide in Chandigarh. In yet another case that came forward, a 19-year-old girl hanged herself to death in her paying guest accommodation at Sector 22, Chandigarh.

The incident took place just hours after Holi Celebrations got over. The girl is said to be hailing fromMandi district of Himachal Pradesh. She hung herself from a ceiling fan in her room while her roommates went to the market.

About the Incident

The sad incident took place post Holi celebrations in the city by the young girl on the auspicious day of Holi. Members of her family have ruled out any foul play who were informed in no time. Deceased’s  kin reached the hospital to gather the facts about the mishap to whom the body was handed over after conducting autopsy on Tuesday. The exact reason for the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. Since no suicide note was found near the premises, therefore the proceedings for further investigation have been initiated by the Police to ascertain the exact cause of the incident.

About the Victim & Complete Story

The victim was preparing for her Pre-Medical Entrance examination from a private Coaching Centre situated in Sector 34, Chandigarh. She was residing in the city for over a year with her friends to prepare for the competitive examinations. Sources reveal that she played Holi enthusiastically with her friends till the evening and was fine till then. After taking bath post the festive mode, her roommates went out to the local market to shop while Purnnika chose to stay back home.

On returning from the market, her friends found the door locked from inside. On failed repeated attempts to open the door, landlords were informed about the scenario by the girls. The landlords further called in the Police who reached the spot. No sooner than the body was found hung, the police rushed her to the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh where she was declared brought dead by the Doctors.

Many such similar incidents have found their home in Chandigarh which attracts most of the students from neighbouring states of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi to pursue their education from the city. With such meagre details about the incident a thorough investigation in the same is highly required to create awareness amongst youth in the city. The inquest to probe the incident has been forwarded to Sector 17 Police station to establish the facts for the sad death of such a young student in Chandigarh.
