While the new 2017 Ford Ecosport facelift gets the existing 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine, an all-new 1.5-litre petrol is also being introduced in the sub-compact SUV. The all-new 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine that the petrol variant of the 2017 Ford Ecosport facelift will carry will offer more power to the Ford Ecosport facelift. The Ecoboost petrol engine has been discontinued by Ford India which was earlier available with the outgoing EcoSport.
The all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine produces a much better 123 PS and 150 Nm of peak torque. It has been reported that the outgoing model churns only 100 PS. The all-new petrol engine is lighter than the outgoing model and hence it is expected to deliver better mileage.
Transmission and Segment-first features of the new 2017 Ford Ecosport facelift
As per the report, the engine of the 2017 Ford Ecosport facelift will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The all-new petrol engine which going to be introduced in the 2017 Ford Ecosport facelift will get a new six-speed torque convertor automatic unit. This unit will facilitate features like Hill Launch Assist and Paddle Shift. These features are claimed to be a segment-first for the Indian market.
Feature-Rich – Entertainment for passenger as well
The new Ford EcoSport facelift is loaded with several cosmetic and mechanical features. The new Ecosport will now offer cruise control. As per the report, all the controls will be on the steering wheel of the sub-compact SUV. An all-new touchscreen infotainment system has been added to the new Ecosport. In addition to the touchscreen, a new rear seat entertainment system has also been added to the 2017 Ecosport facelift for the passengers.
Better Safety
The all-new Ford Ecosport facelift has been equipped with Six airbags. Only the top version of the new 2017 Ford Ecosport facelift will get six airbags while two front airbags and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) will come as a standard fitment across all the Ford Ecosport facelift variants. By folding the rear seats of the new 2017 Ecosport, the boot space can be further expanded to 705 litres.
