The four-wheel segment is increasing at a fast pace with several launches happening in the country every now and then. Consumers are now looking for a sporty yet affordable range of cars that fit in their pockets well. In 2017 several carmakers rolled out the newest variants of their cars that were not just sporty but affordable as well.
Some of the automakers that launched their new models include the Skoda Motors, Volkswagen and the largest four wheeler manufacturer in India Maruti Suzuki. While Maruti Suzuki launched the Baleno RS, Skoda launched the Skoda Octavia RS, and Volkswagen launched the Volkswagen GTI. Though there are several new models that are lined up to be unveiled and launched in 2018 yet here is the list of the best five sporty cars to be unveiled in 2018 that will be affordable as well.
New Maruti Suzuki Swift Sport
Maruti Suzuki will unveil the most-anticipated, next generation, all-new Swift next year in India. According to the report, following the launch of the all-new Maruti Suzuki Swift, the company will also launch the Swift Sport in the country. The Swift Sport is currently available in several the international markets and the same is likely to be launched in India soon.
The new Swift Sport is expected to carry the same engine but will be tuned to produce more power. The new Swift Sport may carry the 1.4-litre turbocharged Boosterjet engine that churns out a maximum of 138 Bhp and 230 nm of peak torque. The engine is expected to come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Petrol
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is India’s highest selling sub 4-metre compact SUV. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza was initially launched with only diesel variant option but a petrol powered Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is likely to be launched in India soon. According to the report, the company is working on the petrol variant of the Brezza which may be unveiled at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo in the national capital Delhi.
Though the Breeza would mostly carry same features as the existing diesel variant of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza but it is expected to come with 1.0-litre three-cylinder Boosterjet engine that currently powers the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS. The unit will be tuned in to produce different power in the current lineup. The petrol variant of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is expected to produce about 110 Bhp.
Mahindra & Mahindra – S201
Homegrown automaker Mahindra & Mahindra is working on a new SUV which is believed to be based on the SsangYong Tivoli. The new product in the Mahindra lineup has been codenamed as S201 internally and this new vehicle from the Mahindra & Mahindra stable will take on the likes of segment leader Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport facelift and the Hyundai Creta.
Automaker Mahindra is believed to develop the S201 on the same platform as the SsangYong Tivoli. According to the report, the new product from the Mahindra stale will appear quite different from the SsangYong Tivoli. The Mahindra S201 will come in both petrol and diesel options. While the petrol version will get a newly developed 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, a 1.5-litre Twin-Scroll turbocharged diesel engine will power the diesel variant of the Mahindra S201.
Ford EcoSport S
Ford Motors recently launched the facelift version of its most successful compact SUV the Ford EcoSport. The company is expected to launch a new variant of the Ford EcoSport – Ford EcoSport ‘S’ soon in India.
Currently the automaker has similar sport models in its hatchback and sedan lineup- which are the Ford Figo S and the Ford Aspire S. The Ford EcoSport ‘S’ is likely to be offered with both petrol and diesel variants. It has not been officially announced though, yet Ford may launch the Ford EcoSport ‘S’ in early 2018. The new variant is expected to get cosmetic changes to make it appear sportier and sharper than the regular version.
Tata Tiago Sport
Tata’s successful hatchback – the Tata Tiago has been one of the most successful models in the Tata product portfolio. The Tata Tiago is gaining popularity in the Indian market in the hatchback segment and it has been a major contributor in Tata’s overall sales. Recently the Tata launched the AMT version of the Tata Tiago which has further strengthened Tata Tiago’s position in the segment.
Following the success of the Tata Tiago, the home-grown automaker is planning to launch the new version of the Tata Tiago – the Tata Tiago Sport. According to the report, Tata may unveil the sport version of the Tata Tiago next year. The Tata Tiago Sport will come equipped with a sporty body kit which will include new, sportier bumpers. The Tata Tiago Sport is likely to carry the 1.2-litre turbocharged engine that currently powers the newly launched Tata Nexon.
