Ola cabs, a web based radio taxi service which was banned in Chandigarh on 9th December after the shameful rape incident in Delhi is still plying its cabs in Chandigarh. Taking a strict action upon this, the state transport authority of Chandigarh impounded 7 radio taxis belonging to Ola Cabs yesterday.
It is being said that Ola cabs have an all India taxi permit which does not allow it to ply radio cabs in Chandigarh. Cabs in Chandigarh should fall in the category of radio taxis service which was launched by Chandigarh Administration in the year 2006.
Earlier, a ban was put on all web based radio taxis in Chandigarh from immediate effect on 11 December.

Ola cabs had got a stay from High Court in this regard, but the Chandigarh Transport Authority says that the taxi service does not even have a licence to ply on city roads. 7 ola cabs have been impounded and officials have said that they will not allow any taxi service without proper documents and verifications to run on city roads.
