According to the latest updates by the government on the 7th Pay Commission recommendation of the minimum pay hike, the government is not throwing off the recommendation to dark. The rumors of no minimum pay hike have been faded after the plans of the government to form the high-level committee were revealed by some of the renowned media houses. 18 months back, 7th Pay commission asked the government to revise the pay structure for the central government employees increasing the minimum pay from Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 21,000.
7th Pay commission has also recommended that the fitment factor should also be increased from 2.67 to 3.00. Recommendation put on the table by the 7th pay commission once implemented will benefit a total of 1 crore working and retired employees of the government. According to the sources, the pay hike will benefit 50 Lakh government employees and around 48 lakh pensioners.

Where at one end the news of framing new high-level committee to analyze the recommendations made by the seventh pay commission came out as a relief for the employees disappointed with the government there, it also hinted on the further delay in the decision on the matter. Also, the Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaetly has promised the proceedings on the matter will go on. As per the current status of the minimum pay hike, the finance minister has proposed the idea of constructing new high-level committee including the secretaries of major departments including Home Affairs, Pension, Posts, Health and department of expenditure.
After the rumors of ditching the recommendation of increasing the basic pay of the government employees were put down by the finance minister, the announcement for the formulation of the high-level committee was also made. This decision gives the light of hope to the employees but also gives a hint on further delay.
The high-level committee will soon be formed to analyze the pros & cons of the 7th Pay commission recommendation and will help the government take the final decision. For all the 1 crore government employees this news has come as a ray of hope. But as a result, they will have to further wait for 6 months to evidence the minimum pay hike.
