7th Pay Commission | After 18 Months From Recommendation, Still No Minimum Pay Hike | What Next?

It has been 18 months since the 7th Pay commission recommended the government to increment the pay of 50 Lakh central government employees. The government has been on nerves of taking the decision for increasing the minimum salary of the employees. This recommendation of increasing the minimum salary from Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 21,000 for the central government employees was put on the table by seventh Pay Commission to benefit 50 lakh employees. With the government still holding on the decision, the employees are getting hints from the sources that the decision of the government is not going to be in favor of the hike.

7th Pay Commission Recommendation to Increase the Minimum Pay Hike 

18 months back, 7th pay commission recommended the government to increase the minimum salary of all the employees working in different defence and civil departments at central government. The recommendations put forth by Seventh Pay Commission include the increment of minimum pay of government employees from Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 21,000. Also, the recommendation includes jumping the Fitment Factor from 2.67 to 3.00. Three Months back government instructed the NAC committee to meet and prepare the complete report stating all the effects of 7th Pay commission’s recommendations.

But, the NAC committee failed to present the report before union cabinet on time and it was in December that NAC was given the deadline to present the report. After the review, the promise made by the government was broken along with the hearts of employees to implement the minimum pay hike by the beginning of the next year.

Government Has No Plans to Implement Minimum Pay Hike Under 7th Pay Commission

7th Pay Commission has been struggling with the minimum pay hike from past 18 months. Recently, several media sources claimed that government has completely put the idea of minimum pay hike down. The government is not planning to implement the minimum pay hike under 7th Pay commission. This news has shattered hearts of 50 Lakh central government employees and pensioners.

According to some relevant sources from the finance department, the government has still not made any decision regarding the minimum pay hike for pensioners as well as central government employees.
