As per latest reports on 7th pay commission, the central government might consider increasing the salaries of junior level employees. The decision to increase the minimum pay for junior level employees might come into effect sooner than expected. On the other hand, it has also been stated that the pay matrix will remain the same for mid-level and high-level employees under the central government.
To give you an idea of what is being meant by junior level employees – we would say that those who fall under the pay matrix 5. As per a senior official in the finance ministry was quoted saying – “The government is considering a proposal to raise the salary of all central government employees up to pay matrix level 5, beyond the 7th Pay Commission’s recommendation”. This means that the government wants its employees to be happy and hence it has decided to go beyond the 7th pay commission recommendations.
How much would be the Salary Hike?
As per reports, no official numbers have been out yet. It is stated that the government is still doing the calculations and might make an official announcement on the topic in few days. It is estimated that the pay hike for junior level employees might be somewhat close to what 7th pay commission had recommended. However, it would be too early to say something on the amount of pay hike.
ALong the news of junior level employees getting a hike in salary, it has also been quoted that “There will be no change in salaries of employees above pay matrix level 5”. Now this gives us a hint that the central government is of the thought process that salary hike should only be given to those actually have a low salary.
7th pay Commission | Recommendations
Earlier several media reports had said that the National Anomaly Committee (NAC) might go ahead for hike in minimum pay of Rs 21,000 and Rs 18,000 along with the fitment factor being increased to 3.00. But as of now, there has been no hike whatsoever.
The news that mid and top-level government employees will not get a salary hike under 7th pay commission might be a sad one but this is what has been stated by an official of the finance ministry. A response from Mr. Arun Jaitley in this regard is awaited so that employees get a clarity on what’s happening and what not.
