It’s been more than a year that Central government employees are stringed along hoping the minimum pay hike under 7th Pay commission. There are many highs and lows that have been experienced by the CG employees in the matter of increasing the salaries. The government has been dragging the recommendation of the seventh pay commission for more than 19 months now. With the dying hopes and expectations, employees have welcomed the new year 2018 and still, the decision regarding the pay hike has been left pending.

We have no idea what has government planned for the time regarding the matter but definitely, the thought process continues. According to the multiple media sources, the word is out that the Finance Minister is planning to appoint a new High-level committee to review the recommendation made by 7th CPC.

Last year a long debate regarding the increase in salaries of the employees from Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 21,000 was carried out and still, no decision was undertaken. After failing to implement the seventh Pay commission recommendations, the anger-fueled among the CG employees was reflected via threats of the strike across the country.

Now, we have no clue that whether it was that threat or the strategy of the government to drag the matter much longer, but the unexpected and shocking decision was taken by the county’s Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley. After the threat of Strike by employees, MR. Arun Jaitley came up with the decision of forming a new High-level committee to handle the matter. As per the sources, FM is planning to constitute this committee with the secretaries of different Ministries including Health, Pension, Posts, Expenditure, etc.

After crushing all the hopes of the CG employees for the minimum pay hike under the 7th Pay commission, Mr. Arun Jaitley has turned the tables by announcing the formation of the new high-level committee. This committee will be given the responsibility of reviewing the recommendations of the 7th CPC and helping the government take the decision. This shocking decision has left the CG employees in the state of confusion. All we can do is wait and watch what this new year will turn into for the employees.
