Aadhaar Card Lost? Here are simple Steps to Apply For a New One

In case you have misplaced the Aadhaar card or have lost your 12 digit UID that is unique identity number then these few steps can help you apply for the new one. According to the changes in the UIDAI that is Unique Identification Authority of India, a new online portal has been designed where one can retrieve their UID or EID that is enrollment ID using their mobile numbers.

Recently in a Microbloggins tweet, the UIDAI has declared that they have a portal from where an applicant can retrieve their UID or EID number easily using the registered mobile number as UIDAI has formulated the database while application process and updates it with the registered mobile numbers.

Steps to Retrieve your UID [Unique Identification] or EID [Enrollment ID] Number 

To retrieve your EID or UID number all you have to do is visit the UIDAI website that is uidai.gov.in and then click on the link displaying ‘retrieve your lost UID/EID’. After clicking on the link one will be redirected to the page, select the Aadhaar number option and fill in the personal details. After this, you will be instructed to fill in the personal details like mobile number, email address with Aadhaar and security code.

Also, make sure that you fill in the mobile number or email ID that you registered while enrollment of the Aadhaar Number. After this step, you have to click on the link displaying ‘Send One Time Password’. After you successfully complete this step a One Time Password that is OTP will be sent to either your mobile number or your email ID. Once, you fill in the OTP on site, the message will display “Congratulations! Your Aadhaar Number [UID] has been sent to your mobile number”.

If you are among the applicants who are still waiting to receive your Aadhaar Number and have lost your Enrollment Number that is EID, then also you can retrieve the EID number by following these above-mentioned steps.

This system is one of the major steps taken by the government to shift the India into Digital Era. With the country developing as a Digital unit, UIDAI has worked up really well and is easing the complete process day-by-day.
