After the immense success of the movie, Toilet Ek Prem Katha, Akshay Kumar is now ready to deal with one of the taboos in India, menstruation hygiene through his upcoming Bollywood film Padman.
The movie Padman is based on the real-life journey of Padman, written as a novel by Twinkle Kanna. Arunachalam Muruganantham hailing from one of the villages of South India invented the low-cost sanitary napkin machine and persuaded women of his village to use them. In the movie Padman, Akshay Kumar is playing the character of Lakshmikant Chauhan inspired by Muruganantham.

Akshay Kumar being the main protagonist in the movie, Padman also features Radhika Apte, Sonam Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Sudhir Pandey, Maya Alagh and many others. The movie Padman is written and directed by R Balki who has movies like Piku, Paa, Ki & Ka, English Vinglish, Cheeni Kum and Dear Zindagi. Padman movie is scheduled to release on January 26, 2018.
