Amritsar Gets 1000 Crore for Upgrading Railway Station | Here’s What Will Change

Amritsar Railway Station is all set to get a new look in the coming year. Yes! you heard it right, Union Railway minister Suresh Prabhu has rolled out a budget of Rs. 1000 crore for the redevelopment purpose of Amritsar Station. From malls to smart parking, all are waiting to be built up in Amritsar Railway Station with the sanctioned amount by Suresh Prabhu.

New Developments at Amritsar Railway Station

With the huge amount of money, the railway authority has decided for the change the whole of the Amritsar Railway Station. As it is the holy shrine of the Sikhs and attracts a lot of foreigners, it is very much necessary to provide them with the world class facilities. Some new things that would come up at Amritsar railway station include:

  • New Platforms
  • Wi-Fi
  • LED Lighting System
  • Elevators
  • Smart Parking
  • A shopping Mall

Along with the Railway minister, even the tourism ministry has provided a fund of Rs. 13 crores that will be used to construct executive lounge on the first floor of the Railway Station in Amritsar. The preliminary plan of the project has been made and shown to the engineering department of the railways.

Ferozepur – Patti Rail link

Along with this, the railways have also released Rs. 300 crore amount for Ferozepur – Patti Rail link. The project for the same has been sanctioned by the Union Minister in the year 2013 but the approval of Niti Aayog has been given now. It is said that this project will promote the development of backwards border belt of Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir and Rajasthan.

This new rail link will be connecting Abohar, Fazilka, Jalalabad, Guruharsahai, Ferozepur, Patti, Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Batala, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Jammu, Udhampur, Anantnag and Srinagar to Mumbai via Sri Ganganagar.

Tenders for the same will soon be carried out with International expertise and will be floated soon in the Rajya Sabha. Although Suresh Prabhu has given the formal approval to the project but some more approvals are yet to be taken.

These amazing facilities will surely increase the number of tourists in Amritsar and also improve the infrastructure of the Amritsar Railway Station.
