Ford Figo is one very important car for American carmaker in India and there is no denying that. While the Ecosport and Endeavour might be doing well but it is the small hatchbacks that sell in better volumes and it is very essential for Ford to regain its lost territory there. While Maruti Swift remains to be one of the top selling cars in the segment, the current generation Ford Figo has not been able to recreate the magic of its predecessor.
Along with the Ford Figo, the Ford Aspire and Ford Freestyle will also be launched and if the reports are to be believed then the Freestyle CUV will be first one of the three to come to India. The launch of all these cars is expected to happen before mid 2018 and the word is the production of Aspire has been stopped and the same is bound to happen for the current generation Ford Figo pretty soon.
Ford Figo Will Be The Most Important Car of The Three
Ford Figo is undoubtedly the most important car of the three models that are in the pipeline for India. While the Freestyle will attract the buyer from the upper spectrum of the segment, it is the Aspire and the Figo which are expected to bring in volumes. The Indian market right now is responding warmly towards the compact sedans and hot hatches. Ford Figo was popular for its performance and the same is to continue with the new facelift.
The Ford Figo is also getting a new set of engines this time around. The petrol engine will be derived from the dragon series and will be a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated 3-cylinder unit that churns out peak output of 97PS. When it comes to the diesel, a 1.5-litre TDCI unit will be on duty. This engine will make 98PS of power and 205Nm of torque on the Ford figo.
Ford Figo Launch Date and Price in India
The car is expected to launch sometime in the middle of 2018 after the Freestyle CUV. Ford Figo price in India is expected to be largely the same as before with a marginal increase of 15-25 thousand Rupees.
