Audi is all set to introduce the petrol engine version of its premium SUV the Audi Q7 in India today. Till today, the flagship SUV Audi Q7 available only in a single diesel engine option. The Audi Q7 made its debut in the Indian market around two years back in 2015. Since launch the addition of this petrol trim in the Q7 line-up in India is the first major addition to the Q7 range.
Why the petrol variant of Audi Q7 in India?
Most of the major carmakers in India are introducing the petrol-powered SUVs for the Indian consumers. Over the years the demand for petrol powered SUVs has increased in India. One of the major factors for introducing the petrol variant of the SUVs is the diesel ban that is being implemented in several states due to increasing pollution.
Another reason is the decreasing difference in the fuel price between diesel and petrol that has led to the introduction of the petrol variant of Audi Q7 in India. Due to all these factors, carmaker Audi is all set to jump onto the petrol bandwagon with its flagship Audi Q7 SUV.
Under the hood
According to reports, the Audi Q7 will get its power from a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine that will churn out 249bhp of power and 370Nm of turning force. The power of this powerful engine would be channeled to a quattro all-wheel-drive system. The petrol engine has been mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
In addition to this, off-roader Audi Q7, which is going to be launched in India today, is expected to be offered in 40TFSI as well as 45TFSI trims. The latter would have a higher power output and is expected to produce 329bhp of power and 440Nm of turning force. Now, for those who understand the language of an engine, this tuning is pretty powerful. The eight-speed transmission and the quattro all-wheel-drive system will be standard across the variants.
Difference in the newly launched Audi Q7 Petrol
As far the difference is concerned between the Diesel and the Petrol variant of the Audi Q 7, well, visually it will be tough to distinguish. As per reports, there would be no visual differences between the Diesel-powered Q7 compared to its counterpart Petrol Audi Q7 which is going to be launched today.
German carmaker Audi is expected to offer its latest addition in the Q7 line-up, the petrol Audi Q7 in one top-of-the-line Technology trim. The Audi Q7 SUV (Petrol) will come loaded with several amazing features such as the virtual cockpit, multi-zone climate control and the Audi MMI infotainment system.
Price of the New Audi Q7 Petrol
Though the company has not yet revealed the price of the petrol Audi Q7 but it is expected that the German carmaker will introduce the petrol variant of the Audi Q7 at a lesser price than the diesel variant. Speculations are that the petrol variant of the Audi Q7 will be around Rs 3-4 lakhs lower than the Audi Q 7 diesel model.
This major change will put the petrol variant of the Audi Q7 in a price range of around Rs 75 lakhs. The Audi Q7 (petrol) would compete with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLS400, the BMW X5 xDrive35i, and the Land Rover Discovery HSE Luxury petrol variant.
