After the shameful news of gangrape in Chandigarh, our city police has got some success to solve the case and they have arrested one of the accused in just 5 days. Chandigarh police has arrested the accused auto driver for alleged gangrape of 21 year old call centre employee in Sector 29. The accused auto driver has been arrested by the police on the basis of sketch. Chandigarh police was in search of the 2 accused of gangrape from the day FIR had been filled by the victim’s family member. Police got its hands on the accused auto driver on Saturday and arrested him for an interrogation.
One arrested and the interrogation is on
As per the FIR filled by the victim, there were 2 men involved in the incident. One was the auto driver and another one was his accomplice. One of the accused was auto driver, who has been identified as Waseem Malik (35 years). Police was in search of the accused from last 4 days and succeeded in the mission on Saturday by arresting the auto driver.
- Waseem Malik (35 year old) has been arrested by the Chandigarh police.
- Accused has confessed to the crime.
- Police is trying to find out whether he has committed this kind of crime earlier or not.
- Accused is unmarried and was not even drunken at the time of crime.
- Police will also find the relation of the duo.
Chandigarh police is still looking for another accused of the crime. After the interrogation police will also try to find out the relation between both the accused. And will be recovering the vehicle soon. The reward worth Rs. 50000 has been announced by Chandigarh police for those who will provide information regarding the second accused.
About the incident
The incident took place on 12th December, when the victim was going back to home after completing her office time. Victim boarded an auto from the road dividing Sector 34 and 21 on Dakshin Marg to reach Hallo Majra. While heading towards her destination, the auto driver took the auto towards the forest area of Sector 29. After getting to the forest area, the auto driver and his accomplice gangraped the girl on knife-point.
The crime came into eye, when the victim narrated the whole incident to her mother after getting to home.
The city beautiful Chandigarh is said to be safe for girls, but this incident was a shocking one for entire city residents.
