Badrinath Temple Opened for Summers 2017 with President Pranab Mukherjee’s Visit

President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee paid a visit to Badrinath Temple in Uttrakhand on Saturday. The doors of the sacred Dham Badrinath have been opened on May 6 and the president being the very first person of India visited the shrine. After the winter break of 6 months, the doors of Badrinath temple reopened for the visitors and the President prays for the ‘welfare of the country’. With the reopening of the doors of the Badrinath Temple, Char dham yatra in Uttrakhand begins for the season.

The highlights of President visit Badrinath Temple

Pranab Mukherjee had started his 2 days Uttrakhand journey from yesterday and in the morning 7:30 Am itself he left in his chopper to the Badrinath temple. The shrine is located at the 10,170 feet above sea level.

  • Pranab Mukherjee visited the Badrinath Temple in around 8:45 Am.
  • Over 500 police officials were deployed for the security purpose of the President’s visit.
  • He spent approx 2 hours in the premises of the Badrinath temple.
  • President of India prayed for almost 45 minutes in the holy temple in front of Lord Vishnu.
  • Although there was a palki for the president, but he preferred to walk till shrine despite the cold weather and high altitude.

Along with the President of India, Governor of Uttrakhand Krishna Kant Paul, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Satpal Maharaj (State Tourism Minister) also accompanied him in the shrine. He left the shrine by 10:25 Am and flew back to Delhi.

Narendra Modi visited Kedarnath on May 3

Before the visit of President to the Badrinath temple, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Kedarnath in Uttrakhand. As it also got opened after the closure of winter season, Prime minister visited the shrine and carried out the prayers at Kedarnath.

It is for the first time in 28 years that any of the Indian Prime Minister visited the Kedarnath Temple. In 1989, VP Singh (former Prime Minister) has visited the Kedarnath shrine. Even Modi visited the temple on the very first day after it’s reopening of the winter closure. The door of Kedarnath Temple opened at 8:50 Am and Modi entered the Temple after half an hour. He performed the parikarma of Nandi statue situated outside the temple.

The Badrinath temple will be opened till 30th September 2017.
