Big Chandigarh Marathon, 92.7 BIG FM’s most talked about annual event is back for year 2016. Big Chandigarh Marathon is officially into its 4th season and has already gained much hype due to the support of various celebrities who have vowed to run for Chandigarh in this marathon. City residents love to participate in such events and looking at the response from past years, 92.7 BIG FM has made the Chandigarh Marathon an annual event.
Big Chandigarh Marathon 2016 would be held in the month of March. Here are all the details you’d like to know about this mega event.
Big Chandigarh Marathon, Season 2016 Details
Date: 13th March, 2016
Time: 6:00 AM onwards
Venue: Outside Rock Garden, Chandigarh.
Theme: Run for Smart City.
Apart from the main ‘Smart City’ theme, Big Chandigarh marathon 2016 will also touch topics of global climate change which includes a ban on plastic, smart traffic in the city, making Chandigarh a beggar free city, promoting gender equality, e-city and making it the most peaceful, prosperous and modern city.
Cash prizes worth 2.5 Lakh would be given to winners.
Running Events at Big Chandigarh Marathon 2016
Although the event has been named as Chandigarh Marathon, but the actual running distance would be that of a half-marathon. There would be a separate race for the smart city cause. here are details for both of these:
- Half Marathon
21.1 Kilometres.
Entry is open to professional runners for Males, Females and Senior Citizens.
Race would start at 6:00 AM (13th March, 2016) from Rock Garden.
- Smart City Run
5 Kilometres.
Entry is open to all.
Run would start at 8:00 AM (13th March, 2016) from Rock Garden.
How to Participate in 2016 BIG Chandigarh Marathon
In order to participate and run in the marathon, prior registration is mandatory. To register yourself:

Some celebrities who are associated with 92.7 BIG FM’s Chandigarh Marathon include Sonam Kapur (Actress), Neeru Bajwa (Punjabi Actress), Sangram Singh (Wrestler), Arjun Kapoor (Actor) and many more. Last year, Gurdaas Mann had presented awards to the winners. Other celeb stars including Gul Panag, Anoop Soni, Juhie Babbar Soni, Roshan Prince, Rajiv Thakur Satinder Satti were also present for Chandigarh Marathon 2015 season.
Big Chandigarh Marathon 2015 saw over 8,000 participants. This time, the participation is expected to be a lot more than previous years.
