In an attempt to take revenge from an ex-girlfriend, a man allegedly made a hoax call to the police following which bomb scare was encountered in the heart of the city, Sector-17, Chandigarh. The rising number of such cases is a cause of concern for violating mental peace and harmony amongst the residents of the city beautiful.
The forlorn guy
The incident is traced back to Saturday evening when a young lady met this man while she went out for shopping in Sector 17, Chandigarh. As per her statement, the man identified as Satnam Singh, a daily wager belonging to Behlana encountered his former girlfriend in the heart of the city when she had gone out to purchase goods from the place. “He forcefully took my phone and dialled “100” said the woman.
On further interrogation, it was revealed that the duo shared tensed relationship after the man found that his lady love has married someone else. In order to harass her post-wedding to take revenge, the forlorn guy took this foolish step.
Hoax Bomb Call – About the Incident
On being notified about the bomb scare, the police officials sprung into action and reached the spot. The spot was thoroughly frisked and the officials found nothing. Post search operation, the officials found out that the woman had not made the call when the officials dialled back the same number.
The cops on further questioning established the fact that the call made was fake and bore no relation with the bomb scare. It was a mere revenge gesture that the man took by snatching the woman’s phone and making a fake call to the police unknowing the dire consequences he had to suffer.
Consequences of the Foolish Act
The investigating officer, Assistant sub-inspector Bhagwant Dayal confirmed the entire incident to media sources. The police has registered a case under sections:
- 505 (statements conducing to public mischief),
- 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication),
- 182 (false information, with intent to cause public servant to use his lawful power to the injury of another person) and
- 177 (furnishing false information) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)
A case has been registered at the Sector 3 police station against Satnam Singh.
