BSNL Has A Different Strategy To Take On Jio And Airtel

JIO 4G and Airtel have already been a price war since day one of JIO’s launch and although the storm was started by JIO itself, it is, in fact, Airtel that is keeping it alive. BSNL, however, wants to take a different approach towards the 4G LTE market and not play the game by the rule. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is hoping to rely on the wifi route and put up as many as 15,000 4G LTE enabled Wi-Fi hotspots in different parts of the country.

Additionally, BSNL 4G LTE services could also be available on the customer’s handset itself in a traditional manner like Airtel and JIO 4G LTE. According to sources, Nokia and ZTE have been given the task to put up the entire required infrastructure for BSNL’s 4G LTE services in India. The rollout will start in the West followed by Southern part of India and will soon move to North and then finally the East in a phased manner.

To Take On JIO 4G Phone, BSNL Has Partnered Up With Other Manufacturers For 4G LTE Handsets

Since the popularity of JIO 4G phone does not seem to die down soon, BSNL has also partnered with Micromax to launch affordable 4G LTE smartphones. This is something similar to what Airtel did with the home grown manufacturers like Karbonn, Celkon, and Intex recently. The device called Bharat-1 by Micromax and BSNL offers 4G LTE services at a price of 2200 Rupees in India with a monthly BSNL pack of 97 INR.
