BSNL Ties- Up With Lava & Micromax to Launch Low Cost Phones in India

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the national telecom operator has joined hands with the Indian mobile phone manufacturer Lava and Micromax. This alliance between the telecom operator BSNL and the mobile phone manufacturer Lava & Micromax is to launch low-cost mobile handsets for the BSNL subscribers.

The reason behind state-run telecom and internet service provider, BSNL joining hands with homegrown mobile phone manufacturer, Lava and Micromax is to sell the mobile phone to the BSNL customers who are looking for a budget handset. Not only this, BSNL is also coming up with other lucrative offers for its customers who will buy Lava and Micromax handsets along with the sim card. However, as published in an English daily, the cost of the mobile phone, SIM card and the call tariff are yet to be finalised by the company. One of the officials also told HT that six rural exchanges in Hyderabad Telecom District are commissioned with the Wi-Fi while by the end of December this year, another 112 rural exchanges will get commissioned with the Wi-Fi connectivity.

Why BSNL is launching low-cost mobile phone handset

The BSNL has come up the idea of launching the low budget mobile phone handset in order to give competition to its rival Reliance who has recently released it low-cost phone handset at just Rs 1500. The Reliance Rs 1500 mobile phone features 4G VoLTE and comes with various features. Also, to come at par with the Reliance Jio and BSNL, another telecom service giant in India, Airtel is mulling on to release their low-cost smartphone at the cost of Rs 2,500.

Talking about the recently launched BSNL 429 plan, the prepaid customers can avail unlimited voice calls and 1 GB data per day for 90 days at just Rs 429. As per the reports, ever since the BSNL has launched its recent plan of 429 more than 3.5 lakh connections have been registered within Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Circles. Not only this, by far a total of 68, 000 BSNL mobile service customers have been linked to their Aadhar number in Hyderabad and Telanga districts. Apart from the mobile phone operator, BSNL is also a prime player of internet service provider in India.
