BSNL To Launch 4G & VoLTE In Partnership With Nokia

Under the partnership of BSNL and Nokia, the Finnish company will deploy the Single Radio Access Network (RAN) software. This RAN software will simplify the installation of the network and also helps BSNL to save the operational costs because it supports 2G, 3G and 4G users in a single radio unit. With the launch of 4G VoLTE technology,

BSNL will directly compete with all other telecom operators that are offering 4G VoLTE services in India. It mainly includes Airtel, Idea, Jio and Vodafone. Jio started the 4G war in 2016 when it launched the 4G VoLTE service at free of cost.

BSNL 4G in Ten Telcom Circles

BSNL in partnership with Nokia will launch the 4G and 4G VoLTE services in the 10 telecom circles of BSNL. These circles of BSNL will soon get the 4G & VoLTE of BSNL – Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. All these circles of BSNL have approximately 38 million users and with the launch of 4G VoLTE, it will help BSNL to increase its customer base.

Last year BSNL had signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Nokia to develop the applications of 5G in India. According to the Sanjay Malik, Head of India Market of Nokia, this partnership of BSNL and Nokia will enable BSNL to launch new Calling and data services. BSNL has already rolled out the 4G services in 5 cities of Kerala. But that was based on the 3G spectrum. In the coming days, BSNL will launch the 4G services in other cities too.

BSNL has recently launched a new postpaid plan for the postpaid users dubbed as BSNL Ghar Wapsi Plan 399. This plan is the first plan of BSNL that offers unlimited calls and 30GB data at just Rs.399. The new postpaid plan 399 will be active for all BSNL circle from March 1, 2018. The plan will offer unlimited calls without any FUP. Sadly the plan does not offer free SMS. The 399 plan will compete against Airtel 399 and Vodafone 399 postpaid plan.
