Chandigarh Airport Authority has been planning to close the working of the airport in February 2018. On 11th Dec 2017, first Bangkok flight took off from the Chandigarh International Airport & CHAIL (Chandigarh International Airport Limited) has announced the closure of the same on February month next year. Although the closure of the Airport will be temporary for just 15 days.
As per the announcement of PRO (Public Relation Officer) of CHAIL, Chandigarh Airport will remain closed for 15 days in the month of Feb 2018 due to the repairing of the runway. And during the time no flights including the civil & military flight will land or take off from the Airport. So if you are planning to fly from Chandigarh in the month of February, then extend your vacations.
No Working of Chandigarh International Airport for 15 Days in Feb 2018
Chandigarh Airport to remain shut for 15 days in the month of February 2018 from 12 Feb to 26 Feb. And also the authority of Chandigarh Airport has mentioned that during these 15 days no flights will take off or land at the Airport. As the repairing work for the same will be carried out including resurfacing & recarpeting of the runway at the Chandigarh Airport.
As of now, 27 domestic flights operate from Chandigarh to Delhi, Mumbai, Leh, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Srinagar, Jammu & Bengaluru. And Chandigarh is also connected to Sharjah & Dubai after the inauguration of the International airport. And its new International flight to Bangkok route has also started from Dec 11. But all of these will remain closed in between 12 to 26 February 2018.
Chandigarh International Airport to Get New Runway
As Chandigarh is getting more International flights, Chandigarh Airport Authority is looking forward to the betterment of the Chandigarh International Airport. And it has started from the length of the runway, which bee increased to 10,200 feet from just 9000 feet. So to allow the wide-bodied airplane to starts its operations from Tricity. Even it will make easy for the airlines to introduce long-distance flights to connect Chandigarh to USA, Europe & Australia.
We hope to soon get more operational flights from Chandigarh to different parts of the World. Love to travel to Europe, Australia or USA from Chandigarh itself.
