Chandigarh: A Bus With 42 People On Board Overturns Near Furniture Market

On the very second day of the New Year, a bus over turned near furniture market in Chandigarh around 4:20 AM in the morning. According to the number plate of the bus, it was a tourist bus that had a registration number of Uttar Pradesh. The bus was carrying a troop of around 42 people, that includes 12 females and some children.

Out of total 42, 16 people got injured after the incident took place. The troop was going back to Noida after celebrating New Year in Manali. All injured victims were rushed to GMSH (Government Multi Speciality Hospital) Sector 16, Chandigarh.

The bus driver unable to control the speedy bus while turning at the roundabout. Due to high speed on the roundabout, driver lost control of the bus and it over-turned just near the roundabout of furniture market in Chandigarh.

After the accident, 2 drivers and the conductor flew from the spot. A passerby informed the police regarding the incident and police reached the spot followed by ambulances.

According to the victims, the bus staff had taken some drugs during their halt at a dhaba. Although earlier they confronted the driver, but he replied not to worry because they are used to it. The troop earlier also experienced the drivers rash driving during the route and had a heated conversation, but then also he continued the same.

After the accident, one passenger managed to come out of the bus by breaking the rear mirror with the brick.

Update: Both drivers and conductor of the bus have been arrested by Chandigarh Police.
