Chandigarh to Delhi Ride Will Now Cost More | Thanks to a New Toll Plaza – Know Details

Travelling from Chandigarh to Delhi has just become costlier. It has been reported that now travelling from Chandigarh to Delhi will cost travelers more due to the new toll plaza that hass been set up at Murthal.

The introduction of a new toll plaza in Sonepat district at Murthal has made the Chandigarh-Delhi ride costlier than before. Before the introduction of the new toll plaza at Murthal, commuters travelling from Chandigarh to Delhi had to shell out toll charges at three toll plazas but now on the commuters will have to pay toll charges at four booths on the Chandigarh-Delhi highway from Chandigarh to Delhi.

Current toll fee from Chandigarh to Delhi

As per the report, commuters travelling by car from Chandigarh to Delhi earlier used to pay toll fee at three toll plazas – Panipat, Karnal, and Punjab. The toll plazas on the Chandigarh-Delhi highway are situated at Panipat (Haryana), Bastada (Ghaurunda) in Karnal (Haryana) and one in Dappar in Punjab.

Currently a commuter who is driving from Chandigarh to Delhi has to shell out around Rs 180 for travelling from Chandigarh to Delhi. Rs 35 is charged at the toll plaza in Dappar before leaving the Punjab state, after which the commuter has to pay toll charge of Rs 115 at the toll plaza in Ghaurunda in Karnal district and the last toll on the Chandigarh-Delhi highway is at Panipat where the commuter has to pay Rs 30 for using the elevated highway in Panipat.

New toll plaza to make Chandigarh-Delhi Ride costlier

After the introduction of the new toll plaza which is reported to be situated in Bhagan in Murthal the commuters travelling by car their own car will have to pay an added fee of Rs 65 which will be charged at the Murthal toll plaza. The introduction of the toll charges will push the total amount of toll charges on the Chandigarh-Delhi highway to Rs 245.

Commuters are not at all happy after the installation of the new toll plaza in Murthal on the Chandigarh-Delhi highway but there is no way out!

Private toll operator to collect the new toll fee

The six-lane toll plaza in Murthal that became operational recently will be operated by a private toll operator. As per the report, NHAI is operating the toll plaza currently, but in 2019 a private toll operator is likely to collect toll on the Murthal toll plaza

A private operator will be assigned the task to collect toll fee at the Murthal toll plaza on the Chandigarh-Delhi highway after it is converted into eight lanes.
