These reports will further get submitted to the Union ministry of transport and will seek approval on the same.

Chandigarh to get institutes for training drivers

To establish institutes for training drivers in Chandigarh, the government of India will support the initiative by providing Rs 5 crore for bringing the Institute into existence. Also, to establish classrooms, and computers rooms, minimum space of 3 acres will be required along with an open space to learn driving. Apart from this, classes on vehicle mechanism, traffic regulations and first aid will be given to the drivers who will join the institute for learning driving. As per the layout of the programme, the driving learning institute will also have types of equipment for examining eyesight of the drivers, driving skills that are off road, the range of driving and other physical abilities. The Institute before establishing here in Chandigarh will have staff training and will be assessed by the union ministry before getting certified as trainers.

Fee structure of Chandigarh based institutes for training drivers

The fees for the Chandigarh based institutes for training drivers has not been decided yet but will off course get an approval on the same by the UT administration. The minimum qualification required to become a driving instructor at these driving institutes is termed as matriculation along with the driving experience of five years, minimum.

The UT administration has taken this decision to open institutes for training drivers because the Chandigarh alone has the highest numbers of vehicles in the country, which has inversely made the roads as well as the pedestrians walking them unsafe. In the past also, Chandigarh has recorded several of road accidents due to the negligence of the vehicle driver which keeps increasing year-on-year. By establishing the institutes to train drivers in Chandigarh will help in managing traffic on the roads, seamless network of transportation and safe driving for the driver as well as for the others on the road.
