No flight will take off or land at the airport on these 5 Sundays.

Over 100 flights Cancelled from Chandigarh International Airport

A total of 20 direct flights land and take off from Chandigarh International Airport daily. 5 days of shutting down Chandigarh International Airport means cancellation of 100 flights. This is a huge number.

Shutting down of airport for even a single day is a big thing and is not at all a common practise. Repair works are conducted when there is a gap between take-off or landing of flights on the runway. However, Chandigarh International Airport authorities have decided to completely shut down the airport for runway repairs that too for 5 days.

Airlines, Shops Owners, Taxi Operators & Passengers Angry

Shutting down of Chandigarh International Airport will result in huge losses for all airlines that operate flights from this airport. Jet Airways, GoAir, SpiceJet, Air India, IndiGo and AirAsia operate flights on daily basis from Chandigarh. All flights have been cancelled resulting in losses to these airlines. All airlines will have to refund the ticket price to passengers or will have to accommodate them in next day’s flight.

Shop owners at the airport, taxi operators which operate cabs and the passengers have expressed their anger over the decision to shut down the airport for 5 days.
