Chandigarh- Manali Highway Blocked & Route Diverted | Check Out What’s Happening?

Chandigarh- Manali national highway has been blocked and routes have been diverted on Wednesday morning. Owing to a massive landslide, Chandigarh-Manali roads got blocked and traffic was diverted to other routes. Although still, the work on the same has been going on to clear the roads for commuters in between Chandigarh and Manali.

From last week of January, Manali and parts of Himachal has received huge snowfall. Even the MeT department has issued an avalanche warning in 5 districts of Himachal Pradesh. Check out Chandigarh- Manali diverted routes due to a recent landslide below.

Chandigarh- Manali Road Blocked due to heavy landslide

Chandigarh- Manali Highway has been blocked for commuters on Wednesday due to a massive landslide in Mandi district. A massive landslide occurred in Aut at Mandi district on Wednesday morning and it has hit the traffic in the region. As the roads are blocked, traffic on the route has been diverted and roads are expected to be cleared by afternoon or evening.

Also NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) machine has got struck in the landslide, although no loss of life has been reported. District Administration has deployed machinery and workers to restore the traffic on roads as soon as possible. Numerous vehicles and buses have been struck on Chandigarh-Manali highway due to the landslide. Although it has been expected to start as soon as possible. As Chandigarh- Manali highway has been ongoing with construction work, frequent landslides occur in-between Mandi- Kullu district.

As because of the landslide, Chandigarh-Manali road has been blocked. Even some traffic has been diverted to Katola in between Mandi and Kullu. Although the diverted route is not fit for heavy vehicles, so heavy vehicles and buses are stuck on the same route only. Although it will take time for the machinery and workers to clear the same as because big boulders have come down the hill on roads.

Also, the MeT Department has expected snowfall in Shimla, Kullu-Manali region on 13th and 14th February 2019. So if you are travelling in between  Chandigarh-Manali, do check out the routes.
