Chandigarh’s first Medicity is ready to be launched in October this year. Located in New Chandigarh, Medicity is an established made under the aegis of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority’s (GMADA). The Mediciity in Chandigarh is planned to house some of India’s top medical colleges and hospitals serving patients not only from Chandigarh but from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and other places.
Chandigarh Medicity launches in October
Medicity is being constructed under public-private partnership (PPP) mode and is a noble initiative of state government. A good chunk of land at Chandigarh Medicity has also been allotted to Chetanya Paediatrics and Gynae Hospital and further application from various other domestic or international multi specialty/super specialty hospitals for the allotment of land is also invited.
Facilities available at Chandigarh Medicity
Spread across 258 acres of land, Medicity is established to offer healthcare facilities to the patients at affordable prices. Located close to the PGIMER in Chandigarh, Medicity is GMADA’s newly constructed campus for all medical and healthcare needs of people near Ecocity. Chandigarh- based Medicity is almost ready to be launched and is in its advanced stages. Works including roads, streetlights, water & electricity supply and bridges are all done by now and other petty jobs are likely to finish in September itself.
The Medicity at New Chandigarh will house 18 multispecialty/super specialty hospitals including Max hospital, Chaitanya Hospital, Homi Bhabha Cancer Research Centre, Grewal Eye Hospital and many more. The site will also consist of an ancillary site, accommodation for doctors and paramedical staff along with lodging facilities for the attendants of the patients. Medicity will comprise of a convention centre, incinerating unit, laundry and a dumping area for all medical wastes.
Eligibility to apply for space at Chandigarh Medicity
Any limited company, a charitable trust or society owning and managing a hospital with 100-beds can apply for land allotment at Chandigarh Medicity. To get a piece of land reserved for a medical college one has to spend Rs 5.5 crore per acre and for a hospital, Rs 6 crore per acre, EDC and CLU charges included. Payment for the land can be done in installments for the tenure of eight years.
