Chandigarh: Now Buy Burail Jail Inmates Product at Sector 22 Market Outlet

Chandigarh: Municipal Corporation recently opened shop to sell products made by inmates of Burail Jail. Recently UT Adviser inaugurated an exclusive store in Chandigarh to sell Burail Jail Inmates products in the market. Now the resident can buy many products from the store that have been made the inmates of Chandigarh’s Burail Jail.

The project has been initiated to encourage the jail inmates of Chandigarh and other nearby regions to learn new skills. Although its just a start, even the authorities have been planning to provide adequate training to the inmates for the same.

Srijan Store in Chandigarh to Sell Products made by Burail Jail Inmates

Recently inaugurated store of Burail Jail has been named as Srijan and it has been located in Sector 22 Chandigarh. Under the Skill India Programme, inmates of Burail Jail will be provided with training and job at Srijan. An NGO called Bridge India Foundation has come forward and their team will train the inmates inside the jail. Courses like data entry operator, store management, office management and reception handling as per their interest. Although the duration of the course will vary from 3 to 6 months or even more.

As of now, the Store in Chandigarh has been taken care of by the Jail Staff. Once the inmates get trained as per the requirement, the selected one will then be placed at the respective posts in the outlet. Resident can then buy products like sweets, cake, furniture items, candles and insignia from Srijan Store in Chandigarh.

Although as of now, Srijan only displays products from the inmates of Burail jail. Soon the store will showcase and sell products made by the jail inmates of neighbouring states like Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi and Haryana. Even the authorities are in talking terms with many other NGOs to come forward and provide training to the interested inmates in the jail.

Soon people of Chandigarh will be able to buy herbal colours for Holi festival from Srijan store at Sector 22 Chandigarh. And the same will be made by the inmates only. Even the inmates will get wage for the same.
