Chandigarh playing a vital role in Nepal Earthquake Relief Process

Chandigarh has always been on the forefront to help other states in the time of calamity and this time, it is helping our neighbouring country Nepal, which has been hit by massive destruction due to an earthquake. Citizens from all spheres have come forward to help those who require it the most.

Chandigarh Airport & 12 Wings Chandigarh:

A total of 5 aircrafts of the Indian Air Force which are based at Chandigarh Airport have been pressed into service to help the earthquake victims. Out of these 5 aircrafts, Four are IL-76 planes and one is AN-32 plane. All these planes have been doing rounds to and fro between Chandigarh and Kathmandu carrying relief material from this side and bringing back Indian citizens to India. Brave air force personal posted at Chandigarh deserve a big salute for the work they are doing.

Contribution from Chandigarh Schools, Colleges & Corporate Offices:

Apart from this, Chandigarh citizens are also doing their bit by contributing to various relief funds. Students from PU and other colleges have collected funds which are being sent to Nepal. Various schools in Chandigarh have also come forward to collect woollens, raw food items and money in order to help those affected by the massive destruction in Nepal. Many offices have also asked their employees to contribute for the Nepal relief fund.

Langar sent to Nepal by SGPC from Chandigarh Airport:

Humanity obviously deserves an upper hand above all. And citizens of Chandigarh have always shown this as an example to other cities of India. Yesterday, Prakash Singh Badal, the chief minister of Punjab also flagged off relief material mainly consisting of food items (Langar) here from Chandigarh Airport. Truck loads of items were loaded into the relief aircrafts for Nepal. The langar has been sent by the sikh body, SGPC.
