Chandigarh Police has increased the age limit for candidates who wish to apply for the post of constable by 2 years. Earlier, one had to be in the age group of 18 to 23 years in order to apply for a constable post with Chandigarh Police but now the new age limit has been set as 18 to 25 years.
This news has come as a relaxation to candidates who could not clear the test earlier. Now, they will have more chances to apply and become a constable. Chandigarh Police is one of the most efficient police forces in India and employees have an added advantage of Chandigarh being a Union territory (UT) as it comes under central government. Hundreds of young candidates from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal come to Chandigarh and apply for the constable position in Chandigarh Police.
Along with increasing the age limit for apply for constable post, the Chandigarh Police also announced that Aadhaar Card and a Driving License have been made compulsory for candidates. These 2 documents will be checked at the time of submitting the application and if someone is not having both or either of these 2, he/she will not be able to apply to become a constable in Chandigarh Police.
More relaxations for Constable post in Chandigarh Police:
- The new race time for 25oo meter race has been relaxed by 30 seconds. Earlier a candidate had to complete 2500 meter run in 5 minute and 45 seconds, but now the new time is 6 minutes and 15 seconds.
- The age for physical standards have also been grouped as 18 to 30 years, 30 to 35 years, 35 to 40 years and 40 to 45 years.
- A biometric verification would also be done for all candidates.
Chandigarh Police officials also announced that the Chandigarh has 17% female constables which is the highest number in India. In order to boost more female constables, Chandigarh Police IG, Mr. R P Upadhyay and the DIG, Mr. A S Cheema said that 50% of total number of constable posts would be reserved for women.
