Chandigarh Railway Station All Set for the New Look | Check What’s Coming Up There

Chandigarh Railway Station is all set to get a makeover and it will start from 1st March 2019. Northern Railways will handover the railway station to Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited (IRSDC) for project building form next month. As per discussion, IRSDC will start the development work at Chandigarh Railway Station from March 1.

Although being on India’s smart city list, Chandigarh Railway Station lacks various facilities. To meet up the Smart city goals, Chandigarh Railway Station is all set for a makeover soon. Know the new facilities to come up for the passengers at the Railway Station of The city beautiful below.

Chandigarh Railway Station: Here’s What all have been proposed

Recently, officials of Ambala Division and IRSDC held a meeting under the chairmanship of Northern Railay GM. In the meeting, a total of Rs. 135 crore budget has been proposed by the IRSDC to complete the development project at Chandigarh Station. As per the presentation given by the IRSDC, the development project will lead to the World Class Station.

IRSDC has proposed a list for the Chandigarh Railway Station development and they are like- a new area, a total of 6 platforms that will be differently abled friendly, 2 subways for passengers, retainment of Chandigarh station building and redesigning of Panchkula station building. Even 12 escalators and 6 elevators have been also mentioned on the proposal for the makeover of the Chandigarh Railway Station.

Know the facilities to Come Up for the Passengers in Chandigarh Station

As far as the passengers are concerned, many facilities are to come up for them as well at Chandigarh Railway Station. Here are the facilities to come up for passengers at Chandigarh Railway Station- a separate road corridor to commute to the railway station, 6 platforms having air composed area with waiting room along with a bank, food counters and more. Even the visitors have to pay Rs. 50 for platform ticket to visit the station.

Passengers who have to board train will have to wait at the air compose area and will only be allowed to enter the platform 10 minutes prior to the train schedule. Whereas 4-storey buildings will also be developed on both the side of the Station.
