Chandigarh | Thieves Strike Sector 42 | Steal Jewellery Worth Rs. 1.05 Crore

A big news of theft in Chandigarh has come to the light where jewellery worth Rs 1.05 crore is allegedly missing from the home of a city-based resident. The victim is a businessman and a resident of Chandigarh’s Sector 42. Earlier, this week he has filed a complained at the police station of Sector 36 that jewellery has been stolen under unknown circumstances from his house. The day and time of the theft are unknown to the family and to the neighbors as no one noticed any theft or any outsider breaking into their house.

Thieves steal jewellery worth Rs 1.05 crore from Chandigarh sector 42

According to the police, Rajinder Kumar Gupta who is the owner of a sanitary shop in Sector 22, Chandigarh has filed a complaint about the theft. He along with his family is putting up in a triple storied house out of which the ground floor is used by him while his son lives on the first floor and other family members on the second floor. The jewelleries that are stolen from the house belonged to the daughter-in-law of the complainant and were kept in the safe of the Almirah on the ground and on the first floor.

Investigation and suspects in the case

On the complaint being filed about the theft by Gupta, Police personnel including Chandigarh’s SSP, SP (operations), DSP (operations), DSP (South) along with the crime branch team visited the location to collect all the possible pieces of evidence. They have neither found any traces of forced entry into the house nor are any locks broken. Apart from the family members in the house, there are three other persons including Pardeep, Anita, and Komal who are there for domestic help and are the main suspects in the crime.

On enquiring, the family told that their daughter-in-law was in Karnal for about a month from March 8 to April 8 when the theft must have taken place in the house. Also, the servant Pardeep did not come to work a day before the complaint was filed by the victim. There is no CCTV camera set up in the house. However, the police have gathered the camera footage of their neighbors and the investigation is on.
