Speeding Biker Hits Traffic Cop Near Aroma Chandigarh & Flees While Being Stopped

While on duty a Chandigarh traffic police officer got recently hit by a speeding bike near the Aroma traffic lights. The cop in order to stop the blasting vehicle came in its way and got rammed badly. The biker fled away from the accident spot after brutally injuring the traffic cop who was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. The accused has been arrested by the Chandigarh police and is now in custody.

The Whole Incident near Aroma (Chandigarh)

The accused Sahil Sharma is a bank employee and works in Sector 23. He was being stopped by the Chandigarh traffic police head constable Gulzari Lal for not wearing a helmet. After hitting the traffic police officer the bike driver was tried to stop near Aroma hotel. Sahil has been produced in the court already after being held and is been booked under several charges.

The traffic police officer who fell victim to rash driving while on duty is named Gulzari Lal and has been admitted to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16, Chandigarh. The police officer is receiving treatment right now. The accused has been sent to the judicial custody and has been booked under Section 279 for rash driving, Section 332 voluntarily hurting and deterring a public servant from his duty and for threatening life and personal safety of others under Section 337.

The Accused & Severity Of His Crime

In cases that accused Sahil Sharma has been booked under one is jailed for atleast 2 years or have to pay a heavy fine or sometimes have to face both these punishments together. In both conditions, the accused can be released on probation. It’s not the first time that Chandigarh Police has to face such type of instead, apparently, almost 13 incidents of assault and misbehave against the traffic cops have been registered this year.

The Chandigarh police department has considerably put up sign boards along the main roads as well as residential streets suggesting to maintain speed while riding for the people. But still, you can see many vehicles speeding their way on the roads and ignoring the fact completely that they can actually risk the life of someone. Trying to do fulfil its duty in every condition possible the Chandigarh police sometimes have to face life-threatening circumstances.
