Chandigarh | Vehicles are meant for commuting from one place to another but who knew that one day they would be used as weapons too. Vehicles these days are frequently used as weapons for killing people as there have been a lot of death cases due to vehicles this year.

A lot of cases have been reported where vehicles have been used in criminal crimes like murders and other cases. In the last 4 months 5 murder cases in Chandiagrh involved vehicles.

Five Deaths In Four Cases From January-April 17

Five people were killed in September 2015 after they were being run over by a truck at Transport Area, Sector 26 Chandigarh and the driver of the truck was drunk. Sarma Chaudhary, the driver of the truck was arrested.

Investigation of The Murders

The ACP of Panchkula has started supervising the investigation of Virender’s murder. He said that it is very difficult to give a logical end to the murder cases where vehicles are used to kill a person.

In Virender’s case, the people who killed him had a motive and they dragged him to death under the wheels of a swift car. The swift car was driven was Manmeet Singh who is the son of a local INLD councillor. The crime happened on 13 March 2017 and eight other people assisted Manmeet in killing Virender.

As published in Indian Express, An advocate who practises in Sector 43 Chandigarh district court said that there is a solid reason behind this kind of murders. He said that the offenders make the crime look like a road accident as a road accident is considered to be a lesser offence than a murder.

A senior police officer has been investigating Akansh Sen’s murder case and said that they went through the judgement which was delivered by Sarma Chaudhary. He said that they were not able to find a motive behind the murder initially. Later they found out that the accused Harmehtab Singh Farid and Balraj Randhawa had a motive to kill Akansh. Harmehtab Singh Farid and Balraj Randhawa hit Akansh in a BMW car driven by Balraj Randhawa in Sector 9 Chandigarh on February 9, 2017.

Last week Rambha, a 32-year-old woman and a resident of Sector 30 Chandigarh were killed when her neighbour Naveen Yadav banged his car into the two-wheeler. As per police’s investigation, Naveen had a motive to kill Rambha and her husband Ram Niwas.

Rinku and Mukesh were on a motorcycle and were run over by an Innova car. Raj Kumar, the driver of the Innova car and a resident of Mohali has been arrested. The incident happened on April 8, 2017. Raj Kumar and the bikers got into a nasty argument near Sector 34 Chandigarh after which he got frustrated and killed the bikers.
