The sudden change in the weather is a boon in disguise for all those people of Chandigarh who maintain abstinence from colors in Holi as they can spend their upcoming long weekend in the nearby hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh that have recently received fresh snow.
The higher areas of adjoining state Himachal Pradesh have been receiving heavy snowfall since Tuesday morning. The effect can be seen here also as Chandigarh too received showers to dampen the fervor of Holi among the enthusiasts. The rain in tricity has brought down mercury compelling people to wear woolens, which they had packed after February.
Snowfall in Manali
Manali alone has received 6cm of snow overnight while Solang valley received 45cm and Kothi received 60cm of snow. Kalpa and Keylong have received 14cm each, while the other regions of the Himachal Pradesh including Shimla, including Kufri and Jubbal, have been lashed by rain.
The Kullu-Anni-Shimla highway at Jalori Pass has been blocked by the snowfall. The higher reaches of Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu and Chamba are receiving good snowfall along with Haripur Dhar in Sirmaur, district. The temperature during day time has been decreased by 3-4 degrees in Himachal while Keylong recorded the coldest with -5.6 degrees followed by Kalpa with -1.2 degrees and Manali with -0.6 degrees.
