Modern Yet Classic Bikes 2018 to be Launched in India | Royal Enfield, Triumph, Kawasaki, Benelli and Norton

2018 is going to be a year of cars and bikes. While several car makers are planning to unveil several new, as well as, facelift variants of their cars, bikes makers too are all set to offer surprises for the bike enthusiasts. Though there are several new bikes and other two-wheelers are expected to be launched next year but here is the list of top 6 upcoming Modern Classic bikes that are most likely to be launched in the coming year.

Benelli Imperiale 400

The all-new Benelli Imperiale 400 is likely to be launched by DSK Benelli in India by mid-2018. The bike will come powered by a single-cylinder, 373.5 cc, fuel-injected engine that would produce more than 19 bhp and 28 Nm of peak torque at 5500 rpm and 3500 rpm respectively. The retro-styled Benelli Imperiale 400 will be competing against Royal Enfield which is the dominant bike in the segment in India. The bike is expected to be launched at an initial price under Rs.3 lakh.

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650

The parallel-twin engine carrying motorcycle from Royal Enfield had been one of the most anticipated bikes from the bike maker. Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is going to be the biggest action in the modern classic space in the coming year. The bike with an all-new fuel-injected, 648 cc, parallel-twin engine would produce 47 bhp and 52 Nm of peak torque at 7100 rpm and 4000 rpm respectively. The engine will come mated to a six-speed transmission. Initially, the retro classic streetbike with easy ergonomics, is likely to be priced under Rs. 4 lakh and it may be ready for sale in the country after the 2018 Auto Expo.

Royal Enfield Continental GT650

The Continental GT650 too, will get the similar engine that powers its sibling – the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. In terms of changes, the Royal Enfield Continental 650 is slightly shorter and narrower than the Enfield Interceptor 650. The Continental GT650 gets a sportier riding position with café racer design language. Initially, the Continental GT 650 might also carry a similar price tag as of the Interceptor 650 in India.

Kawasaki Z900 RS

Kawasaki Z900 is also expected to be launched by Kawasaki in 2018. Two new retro variants have already been unveiled by Kawasaki. After the unveiling of its popular performance naked – the Kawasaki Z900RS Café and the Kawasaki Z900RS the premium bike maker is planning to launch one out of the two bikes in India as well. The 948 cc Z900 RS gets an in-line four-cylinder engine that comes mated to a modern six-speed transmission. The bike comes equipped with a slip and assist clutch for smoother ride. The engine has been tuned to generate 97 Nm of peak torque and 110 bhp of peak power. The bike is expected to be launched in India around mid-2018 with an expected price of Rs.10 lakh.

Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster

Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster, a brand new model from Triumph Motorcycles is another bike which is expected to be launched in India in the coming year. With the new launch, the automaker is planning to extend its popular modern classic range. The Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster is reported to be based on the Triumph Bonneville Bobber, and gets the similar liquid-cooled, 1200 cc, parallel-twin engine. The powerful unit produces around 76 bhp and 106 Nm of peak torque at 6,100 rpm and 4,000 rpm respectively. The bike may get launched in the first quarter of next year at an expected price of Rs.10-11 lakh.

Norton Commando 961

Part of the Kinetic Group, the Firodia family-promoted Motoroyale is reported to be launching the Norton Commando 961 in India by the end of next year. The new bike is going to be the first motorcycle from Norton which is going to be sold in the country under the Kinetic-Norton JV (joint venture). Powered by an air-cooled, 961 cc, fuel-injected, parallel-twin engine, the Norton Commando is projected to make 79 bhp and 90 Nm of peak torque. Though the Norton Commando model will be assembled in India but it is expected that the bike will be launched in India at an initial price of around Rs.20 lakh.
