10 Colleges in Chandigarh Get Rs. 20 Crore from MHRD

To welcome, new session batches this year, Chandigarh’s colleges are ready to enhance their infrastructure and education system as they will soon get a grant of Rs 2o crore from MHRD.

A total of 10 colleges of Chandigarh have received a thumbs up by the Project Approval Board (PAB) of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India for the grant of Rs 2 crore each. The funds have been granted to the colleges with B++ NAAC grade.

How will Grant help Chandigarh Colleges

The RUSA grant aims at improving the infrastructure of the colleges so that the students can get better education and qualifications. The Rs 2 crore financial aid will be used by all the 10 colleges for any new construction or renovation work, setting up laboratories, tech savvy classrooms, computer rooms, sports facilities, improvising of both academic and non-academic resources, training equipment and procurements for learning, maintaining libraries and getting new books, furnitures and fixtures, hostels for the students and refurbishing of clean and hygienic toilets on the campus.

All the colleges are directed to make a layout for channelising the funds in a proper way as per the norms of the MHRD. The aforesaid revamping of facilities in the existing colleges will offer students with quality education system while attracting more and more students in the college.

The grant has been approved by the only when the State Higher Education Plan of UT, Chandigarh, approached MHRD with a proposal on infrastructural revamping needed by different colleges of Chandigarh.
