Curfew Situation in Punjab & Haryana | Road, Rail & Internet Connectivity Suspended

The situation in Punjab and Haryana is getting worse. As today is the day that final verdict will be given on Baba Ram Rahim for his sexual assault case, a curfew like situation prevails in Chandigarh and both states of Punjab and Haryana. Over 200 buses of Haryana roadways and PRTC including Punjab Roadways have been kept on standstill and all other buses coming to various cities in Punjab and Haryana have been suspended. Himachal Government has also confirmed that no HRTC buses will be going to Chandigarh or other cities of Punjab and Haryana. Bus stands at all major cities in these 2 states wear a deserted look.

Apart from buses, over 200 trains that connect various cities of Punjab and Haryana have also been canceled. Some long distance trains have been diverted to other regions. Earlier, Police forces including para-military forces were deployed at railway stations to keep an eye but from the night of 24th August, over 200 trains have been canceled.

Update – Curfew Imposed in Sirsa

Sirsa, home to Dera Sacha Sauda’s chief Ram Rahim is already under curfew. People are not being allowed to come out of their homes.

Punjab Chief Minister, Amrinder Singh has said that if the situation demands, we would impose curfew in Punjab. Areas like Moga, Barnala are already on high alert and numerous companies of para-military forces have also arrived in Punjab.

The situation at Panchkula

Followers of Baba Ram Rahim have gathered in Panchkula in lakhs. Despite imposing Section 144 and despite efforts of Haryana Police, these followers are still on roads. It was said that the police might use force to disperse the crowd but nothing has been done till now and the situation remains the same.

Baba Ram Rahim has also given a video message to his followers to not gather in Panchkula and has requested that those who are there to go back to their homes but his followers are saying that we’ll not go anywhere until we see our guruji.

All schools, colleges, and educational institutes have already been shut in all parts of Punjab and Haryana.
