Dev Samaj College Sector 45 Chandigarh to Become Co-Ed

Amongst many prestigious colleges is the Dev Samaj College for Women in Chandigarh. Incepted in 1981, Dev Samaj College for Women is a NAAC-Accredited ‘A’ grade institution located in Sector 45, Chandigarh. The College is of great repute and is only for girls till date. But now, the college authorities have decided to convert it into a co-educational institute. The application for approval has been sent to the Department of Higher Education but the college authorities are yet to get a thumbs up from the Department.

The college authorities are of the opinion that making Dev Samaj College a co- educational institute will help in establishing a interpersonal relationship amongst students for their overall development. Dev Samaj College of Chandigarh offers nine regular undergraduate courses along with ten diploma courses. It has a fine arts studio, fashion designing lab, chemistry lab, two physics lab, psychology lab, cosmetology lab, two music rooms and a seminar room.

Apart from these, college infrastructure includes smart classrooms, computer labs with 200 systems and a digital language lab. There is a UGC Network Resource Centre for the academic staff as well as for the students within the college premises. The college consists of a fully equipped library that has over 20,000 books and 110 periodicals, an outdoor and indoor sport area, and a gymnasium. Chandigarh- based Dev Samaj College for Women also offers freeship to the players of national and international level. The college regularly conducts seminars and workshops for career counseling, runs separate anti-raggingti ragging, grievances, Womens’ Cell, Psychology- Samvedna Counseling (helpline), Dear Club, Red Ribbon Club, Rotaract club, Literary Society, Fashion Designing club, Fine Art (Kalakriti), Press Club, Music Club, D- Master Club, Green Planet, Mathematics Club, Science Club, Management Club, Alumni Association- Virasat, and Health Care Unit.
