Dr. Mukut Minz (Fortis Hospital Mohali) Recieves Padama Shri Award From Indian President

Dr. Mukut Minz of Fortis Hospital Mohali has been awarded the Padma Shri award. Eminent transplant surgeon and Director- Renal & Pancreas Transplant Surgery has been honoured with the Padma Shri award by the president of India during a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan, Delhi.

Prof (Dr) Mukut Minz has been awarded the prestigious award for his immense contribution in the field of Medicine. In 30 years of his medical career, he has contributed majorly for his patients and his workplace.

Dr. Mukut Minz Journey to Padma Shree

Today, Dr. Mukut Minz has been known as the best surgeon in the region from Fortis Hospital Mohali. He has started his medical career from PGIMER as a Prof & Renal Transplant Surgery HOD in the year 1980. In his 30 years of medical experience, he has led 3,300 Kidney transplant operations.

  • In 2008, he was elevated as a Senior Professor in PGIMER.
  • He has also been a member PGIMER Governing Body from 2015.
  • He has also established Combined Kidney-pancreas Transplant Programme for Kidney failure with Type 1 diabetics in PGI. And currently, it is the leading pancreas transplant centre in North India.
  • In his long career, he has trained over 30 surgeons, who are now holding various positions in India, UK, Australia and US.

Dr. Mukut Minz has also received advanced training in cadaver organ retrieval and transplantation from different universities and centres in Sweden, Germany, USA, Norway, Munich and many others.

He Treated Sushma Swaraj too

In recent times, he has also led the team of doctors to carry out the Kidney transplant of Union External Affairs Minister Mrs Sushma Swaraj at AIIMS, New Delhi. Even, he has mentored many teams, who used to carry out complicated procedures like AV fistulas for hemodialysis.

Along with Dr. Mukut Minz, 3 people from Odisha Sadhu Meher (Cine star), Aruna Mohanty (Odissi dancer) and Jitender Haripal (Folk singer) were also selected for the 4th highest civilian honour of the country.
