At the age of 20, she moved to Mumbai from Chandigarh to make her career in movies and she made her tv debut with ‘Chand ke paar chaloo’. In 2012 she began her Bollywood journey with ‘Vicky donor’ as a lead role and really lived up to the character and won Zee Cine award for the best female debut in 2013. After that, she has been seen in many other bollywood movies like- Badlapur, Action Jackson, Sanam Re and much more.
Ayushman Khurrana
Ayushmann Khurrana is the another famous name of Chandigarh, who was born on 14th September 1984. The multi-talented actor pursued his schooling from St John’s high School, Chandigarh. Further, he completed his master’s degree in mass communication Punjab University situated in Chandigarh. He got noticed in 2004, when he won Roadies 2 at the age of 20. Yuvraj Singh

Kapil Dev
India won the ICC World Cup in 1983 for the very first time under the captaincy of Kapil Dev. The fast right arm bowler is born in Chandigarh on 6th January 1959. He has completed his education from DAV Public School, Chandigarh. Kapil Dev was awarded with Arjuna award and Padma Shri award in the 1980 and 1982 respectively. In 2013, NDTV has listed him under the list of 25 Greatest Global Living Legends in India.
Vivek Shauq (Late)
Vivek Shauq was another famous personality from Chandigarh. He was a noted comedian, actor, writer and singer. He was born in the city beautiful Chandigarh on 21 June 1963. Vivek completed his education from Indo Swiss Training Centre (ISTC) situated in Chandigarh. Starting with theatre and TV, Vivek acted in many Punjabi and Hindi movies like Aitraaz, Dil Hai Tumhara, Asa Nu Maan Watna Da and so on. Vivek suffered heart-attack and died on 10 January 2011.
Milkha Singh
Milkha Singh is known as ‘FIying Sikh’ for his athletics. The residence of Chandigarh, Milkha Singh has bought many laurel in the field of athletics to India. In 2013, Milkha Singh’s life has been portrayed in a Bollywood film titled as ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’. Milkha Singh has won many honours like- 200m Asian Games (1958), 440 yards Commonwealth Games (1958), 400m Asian Games (1958) and much more. In the year 1959, Chandigarh ‘Flying Sikh’ has been awarded as Padma Shri.
Abhinav Bindra
World and Olympic champion shooter, Abhinav Bindra is one more famous name in Chandigarh. 34 year old Bindra has been graduated from St Stephen’s School, Chandigarh in 2000. Abhinav is the youngest participant in 1998 Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games 2000. In the year 2000 he was honoured with Arjuna Award and in 2001 he was awarded by the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna. He won 6 medals at various International meets in 2001.
Nek Chand (Late)
Another famous personality who belong to Chandigarh is Nek Chand. He was a self taught artist, who was known for his architecture and sculpture. Nek Chand moved to Chandigarh at the time of partition and served Public Works Department of Chandigarh as a road inspector. Nek Chand was famous for his design of the Rock Garden in Chandigarh. In the 1984, he was awarded as Padma Shri award. Nek Chand died at age of 90 in the year 2015.
Jaspal Bhatti (Late)
‘King of comedy’, Jaspal Bhatti is another famous person who has relation with Chandigarh. Comedian, actor, producer and director Bhatti Saab has completed his graduation from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. In 2013, Government of India has awarded him with Padma Bhushan. Jaspal Bhatti died in a car accident on 25th October 2012.
Prince Narula
One more known name in modelling and acting field is Prince Narula, who belong to Chandigarh. Prince was born in the city beautiful Chandigarh on 24 November 1990. He started his career by participating PTC Punjabi Mr. Punjab 2014 and he ended up being 2nd runner up. After completing her schooling from the city itself, she took her studies further and graduated from the Department of Indian Theatre from Panjab University, Chandigarh. Kirron Kher debuted her filmy career in 1983 with a Punjabi feature film titled as ‘Aasra Pyar Da’. She has acted in many Bollywood films like- Rang De Basanti, Devdas, Singh Is King,Om Shanti Om, Veer Zaara, Main Hoon Na etc. She has even won National Film Award in 1996 and 2000. Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal
Duo become famous not only in Chandigarh but in whole world, when they founded E-Commerce company known as ‘Flipkart’. Sachin and Binny Bansal belong to Chandigarh and has completed their education from one of the IIT’s of India. Flipkart was founded in 2007, before they both worked with Amazon. Mahi Gill
Mahi Gill is a well known actress and model of Punjabi and Bollywood Industry. Mahi’s real name is Rimpy Kaur Gill, who was born on 19 December 1975 in Chandigarh. Rimpy has also completed her masters in theater from Punjab University, Chandigarh in 1998. Gill got her first break in a Punjabi based Bollywood movie ‘Hawayein’ in 2003. Further she has been seen in many Punjabi and Bollywood movies like- Dev.D, Paan Singh Tomar, Dabangg 1 & 2, Saheb Biwi and Gangster and so on. In 2010, Critics has given her the best actress award for Dev D.
Gurmeet Choudhary
Adding to the list of Chandigarh’s famous personalities, actor- dancer Gurmeet Choudhary was born in Chandigarh on 22 February 1984. Being born in an army family at Chandigarh, Gurmeet wished to become an actor that’s why he has been called as ‘Shashi Kapoor’ by his family. He acted in many of the TV serials and reality shows like- Ramayan, Jhalak Dikhla Ja 5, Nach Baliye 6, Khatron ke Khiladi etc. After TV serials, he has also performed in many Bollywood movies like Khamoshiyan, Mr. X and much more.
Neerja Bhanot (Late)
Though Neerja Bhanot is no more in the world, but the brave girl has been born in Chandigarh on 7th September 1963. She pursued her career in with Pan Am as a flight attendant, and at the end of her life she worked with Pan Am as a Cabin Crew head. In 1986 during her flight, she saved 359 passengers life and was shot dead by the hijacker of the flight. For her bravery, girl from Chandigarh has been awarded Ashoka Chakra in 1987. Neerja Bhanot life story has been picturised in the movie released in 2016 titled as ‘Neerja’.
Gul Panag
Gulkirat Kaur Panag popularly known as Gul Panag, is a famous personality who was born in Chandigarh on 3 January 1979. She has done her schooling from 14 different schools that includes Kendriya Vidyalaya, Chandigarh. Former participant of Miss Universe (1999),Gul Panag has completed her masters in Political Science from Punjab University, Chandigarh. Sargun Mehta

31 year old, Mohit Sehgal is one more famous personality of Chandigarh, who was born on 3 December 1985 in Chandigarh. Boy from the city beautiful Chandigarh is best known for his role in Miley Jab Hum Tum in 2008. After this, he has acted in many other tv serials like Qubool Hai, Sarojini, Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Season 8. He has even won the Favourite Naya Sadasya Award in Zee Rishte Awards for Sarojini in 2015.
