11 Flights Cancelled From Chandigarh Airport & Here’s Why

Shockingly, 11 flights have been cancelled from Chandigarh International Airport. It has been reported that the air traffic is set to drop at the Chandigarh International Airport from next month. The substantial drop in the air traffic is due to runway repair which will result in the early closure time of the Chandigarh International Airport. From the first week of October, the Chandigarh International Airport will have a closure time of 4 pm.

11 Flights Cancelled From Chandigarh Airport

According to a report, currently, 36 flights are operating from the Chandigarh International Airport. Due to the runway repair work, as many as 11 flights have been cancelled out the 36 flights operating from the Chandigarh International Airport. The current operating time of the Chandigarh International Airport is until 10 pm and the move to cancel 11 flights from the Chandigarh International Airport is targeted to meet the new closure time of 4 pm from October 3 onwards.

When will the flights start again?

It has been reported that the revised schedule of the cancellation of 11 flights as well as the new closure time of 4 pm will remain in force till the end of March 2018. There are chances of further extension, but as of now, the schedule will remain in force till March 31, 2018. It has been further reported that the runway repair is targeted to be completed in 20 months. During the repair period, the Chandigarh International Airport will also remain closed on Sundays as well.

Flights cancelled, connectivity affected!

Evening connectivity to Delhi has been affected due to the closure time of 4 pm at the Chandigarh International Airport. Jet Airways has cancelled three evening flights that connect city beautiful the national capital. As per the report, Jet Airways has cancelled three of its flights that took off from Chandigarh at 6:05 pm (18:05), 7:35 pm (19:35) and 9:35 pm (21:35).

Indigo airlines too has called off its important flights from Chandigarh. The flights from Chandigarh International Airport to Bengaluru, Mumbai and Srinagar have been cancelled by Indigo airlines. Currently, the Indigo airlines offered connectivity between Chandigarh-Bangaluru at 4:30 pm (16:30). Due to the tight time slots, the airlines has cancelled the Mumbai and Srinagar flight as well.

Flag carrier airline of India – Air India has already released the revised timings of their flights. Go Air has cancelled its Chandigarh-Mumbai flight at 7:15 pm (19:15). There has been no change in the schedule of other airlines, including Air Asia and Air Vistara.

Besides these flights, the schedule of other airlines such as Air Vistara as well as Air Asia remains same.
